Most people use orzo in soup, but there’s more to it than a popular soup ingredient. Check out this recipe which combines it with lamb, spices, and herbs.

Very often, I get a question. What can I make with the ground Lamb?

There are so many dishes you can make with ground lamb. Imagine what you can make with ground beef? Well, you can make the same with the ground lamb. You may adjust spices that go well with the Lamb, that’s it.

Lamb Orzo is very easy and quick to make, and most importantly, it is delicious.


  • 6 Oz ground lamb.
  • 3 Cloves garlic, crushed and minced.
  • 1-1/2 Teaspoon olive oil.
  • 1 Onion finally chopped.
  • 1 Teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  • 1/2 Teaspoon dried oregano.
  • 14 Oz canned tomatoes.
  • 2 Tablespoons black olives, pitted and sliced.
  • Salt & Pepper to taste.
  • 12 Oz Orzo.
  • 1/2 Cup Feta Cheese.
  • Greens, parsley, cilantro, spinach ( Optional)


    Fill pot with water, add salt and bring to boil.

    In a pan over medium heat, cook the lamb for 5 minutes.

    Drain and transfer to a bowl.

    Pour the oil into a pan over medium heat.

    Cook the onions for 4 minutes.

    Add the garlic, herbs and spices, cook for 1 minute.

    Add the lamb and heat for few minutes.

    Puree the tomatoes in a blender, stir into the pan. Cook for 10 minutes.

    Add the olives, salt and pepper.

    Prepare the Orzo according to the directions on the package.

    Stir into the lamb mixture.

    Garnish with feta cheese and greens.
